11 cameras that dramatically change the way you take pictures*

It’s just a camera!

People love to say choosing the right camera is a science. Maybe it is, but for me, it’s all about the feeling.

Last week, I threw myself into an experiment with a mix of cameras, from a high-end mirrorless digital to a retro Nimslo four-lens 3D camera, my trusty iPhone, a tiny Polaroid, a few compact digitals, an old-school Kodak Brownie, and even a large-format film camera. Some were sleek and professional, others pocket-sized and delightfully quirky.

Each camera pushed me to see things in new ways. One made me think more deeply about subjects in 3D space, another made me laugh with its unpredictable charm. One reminded me that gear doesn’t have to feel intimidating; it can be fun and playful.

Handling each camera was a fascinating experience. The digital options felt advanced and precise, while the analogue ones, like the Polaroid and film cameras, had that tactile, hands-on magic that invites you to slow down and enjoy the process.

Yes, some images turned out sharper, and some focused better. But at the end of the day, that isn’t what matters most.

The best camera is the one that makes you excited to create.

Each camera carried its own personality and taught me to look differently before pressing the shutter. They challenged me, surprised me and, most importantly, reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

It isn’t about the perfect lens or the latest body. It’s about your energy, your perspective and your curiosity.

Don’t sit around waiting for the “perfect” gear to start. Pick up whatever you have and just start shooting.

It’s just a camera, and that’s exactly what makes it so powerful.

*Oh, and about those 11 cameras... There were actually only 10. Did you spot which one wasn’t a camera at all?
